The Mission in Citrus Homeless Shelters Celebrates Five Years of the Homeless Helping the Homeless with No Paid Staff

Since 2008, when 6 homeless guys set down and made the rules and procedures for a one of a kind shelter, thousands have been helped and ended up as one of the most highly successful shelters in the Country. All done using less dollars and more sense.

Their Mission was to help all in need to the best of their ability. They follow the parable of the Good Samaritan,as there are no requirements for their services. And they know their program is second to none, as they constantly reinvent the wheel to make it all work. The faces of homelessness can change as well as each individual's circumstances. And there have been very few that they have not been able to help.Their program has no paid staff. It is for the homeless to help the homeless. They offer each other a hand up, and not a hand out.

The Mission in Citrus Inc. was founded in 2008, after their founder became homeless himself, and found that traditional shelters were not working, or addressing the needs of Veterans.Veterans fought for the rights of all, including themselves. The Founder felt that no one should lose those rights by becoming homeless. The shelters he stayed in, and visited, forced the residents to church, hard labor, and many other things that do not make them productive or a part of society when they leave.
.
That is why their Veterans Shelter is helping Veterans, and our other three shelters for the homeless are all working. In August alone. 22 Veterans, men, women, and children are back in homes with jobs. It does not seem like much, but it equaled 30% of their daily population. Much higher than the national average. All started with 65 tents and prayer. They survive on donations only. Thanks to Walmart ,Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond , High Octane Saloon and many others, they handed out over $ 500,000 worth of food , building supplies, and much more to those in need. They do not sell their donations, but give them away to the needy.

The Mission in Citrus Homeless Shelters are located in Citrus County Florida and are growing. The Mission is a 501(c)3 Public Charity and all donations are tax deductible. Over $.95 cents of every dollar goes directly to goods and services for homeless residents. There are no salaries or overhead.

They hope that many read this release as they are in need. Without a sprinkler system, their Veteran's shelter which helps Veterans from around the US may close. They need your help.

Please help them help others.
